I'm an experienced rider and have been riding for well over 2 decades now. If you are struggling with the 390 I would not suggest the 690. I already had a discussion with my local KTM dealer and he can offer a lowering kit (spring) from KTM about 1 inch (3cm)

Where the Husky felt like a trailbike the KTM feels more like an oversize competition machine.
For a shorter rider, the adjustable seat height is a godsend, especially at low speeds. It is surprisingly nimble off-road, but it's still a big bike when transitioning from a 690.
