I'm new to this and am wondering about adjusting the rear shock. Bike has 45000 on it. Looking at the adjuster under the seat. It is currently set where I can see 2 of the lower marks. I ride solo and am not sure where this should be. I'm guessing the tighter its cranked the stiffer the ride. Also I've read that these should be rebuilt every 25 Thought about getting a custom seat for my 15, but have since changed my mind. Just completed a long ride and found the perfect adjustment for me for the seat. I have the front of the seat set in the high setting and the back of the seat set in the low setting. This allows the seat to set level or slightly declined toward the back. Seat height alone will not determine comfort but it is a guide, until we mere mortals can throw a leg over and see for ourselves what fits. My quick research tells me that a 2012 survey identified to following heights: BMW G650GS – 30.7 R1200GS low seat, low suspension – 31.1 F800R low seat – 30.5 K1300S low seat – 31.1
Heater elements should never be installed in motorcycle seats used by riders that cannot sense heat. Measurements: Rider seating: 12" wide x 14" long. Rider back support w/ #02-S: 12" - 13". Passenger seating: 10.5" wide x 10" long. Approx. seat height: 32". I’m 6’3” 200lbs on R1250GS and went with the high rally seat because it fits closer to the tank. With lower TT pegs it gives me the leg room I need, but long rides do become a pain in the butt. Custom job on the list. Both the standard and BMW high comfort seats are garbage. Page 78 justment in the alignment 1 (identification L). In order to set the high seat position, install front height adjustment in the direction 2 (identification H). Yes, the plate aft of the Rallye seat comes off in about 1 second. Slide towards front of bike and lift up. Done. Also, per the manual the Rallye seat "must always be set to the High positionand the rear height adjustment must always be set to the Low position. Its on page 14 of the 2017 BMW R1200GS Rallye Additional Rider's Manual. Don't remember which model seat but ran a Sargent on an 05 R1200GS. Was it "the best?" I doubt it but much better than than plank BMW called a seat. Done a lot of 3-400 mile days on it w/o grief. FWIW I'm 5' 10" at 160#. e8G73.
