2424 posts · Joined 2008. #5 · Jun 24, 2011 (Edited) some claim they can compress the rear drive shaft and get it off the gearbox/transfer case without sliding the rear diff back.It worked on the front,but I couldnt get it to do it in the back. I would replace the distance sleeve/wear ring that the seal seats against too.
Fill to the level of the fill plug. (can't remember the volume.I think around 750ml) Use 75/140 synthetic gear oil. Change both diff oils. Front is filled to the level of the fill plug (500ml). The rear must be measured and only 250ml is added. If you fill to the fill plug, the rear diff will be over-filled.

From your comment about "do you need to change the oil filter too" is scaring me, you might want to take it to the dealer. If you do decide to do it yourself, you will need 2.2 quarts of 5w40 SYNTHETIC. You can buy a oil change kit at the dealer for $50 or go to an auto parts store for the oil and buy 3 filters in a pack on ebay for usually $15
