Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is currently available on Switch with Shin Megami Tensei 5 coming out in a few weeks. Not the most accessible games for newcomers to JRPGs but Nocturne is a great challenge and overall a pretty fun game if a little frustrating. Definitely recommend giving them a try at least :)
12 Orbits is a 1-button game for up to 12 players. To play, the button is chosen by each player on any input device that works for the Switch. You could even have a really weird game where everyone had a different button on a single controller. Breath of the Wild is huuuuge. Open world exploration, can be extremely chill or as hardcore fighting/grinding as you want. Disgaea 5 has a lot of zany humour with grid turn-based fighting on set and randomized maps. Heavy on both story and strategy, it has endless replayability & grinding endgame with random maps.
Adventure Pals is a great choice. Not hard, it’s coop, and if one player is better than the other, that one gets dragged along. Plus it’s a very silly game. If you have a Wii, the ideal choice is Kirby’s Epic Yarn. That’s the best coop game for the age of your kids hands down. 3.
